One of the most ancient techniques that points to this concept is called mindfulness meditation. This ancient practice is now being researched by todays psychologist and neuro scientist for its benefits to our wellness. My research topic will explain how meditation impacts our health. Effects of stress reduction on clinical events in African Americans with coronary heart disease.† When they did the follow up for the for-stress reduction, it showed a 43% reduction in risk for stroke and myocardial infractions. It also showed a reduce in blood pressure for their participants over the course of 5 years. Stress reduction isn’t only beneficial to the ones who want to decrease heart disease but also for the ones dealing with post-traumatic stress syndrome. Mindfulness meditation activates the left prefrontal cortex of the brain and is associated with decreasing anxiety. It stabilizes emotional activity, not allowing for episodes related to PTSD to occur as frequent. In the short story, â€Å"The End of Something,† Ernest Hemingway uses the setting to signify important elements of the story and to uncover unresolved dilemmas. Just as many writers do, Hemingway uses the setting to establish values within a work of literature. By using the setting to represent points that are buried within the story, Hemingway displays his Iceberg Theory in which he writes his short story by omitting or hinting at the main points. Hemingway believes that the true meaning of the story should not be evident in the story because the true â€Å"essence† of the story lies below the surface. In â€Å"The End of Something,† Hemingway describes the setting with significant detail to hint toward the mood and symbols that the reader may not grasp immediately. He depicts the end between Nick Adams and his girlfriend Marjorie. All the kids loved it and still beg me to play it today. The best way I learned is by going through it and it’s made into a better more responsible adult. This job taught me how to balance being responsible and being silly. Even though my first day was a struggle, by the end of the day I knew this what my passion is and to this day it has not changed.
